Device Description

Proloquo4Text ™ is an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) app/language system designed to help individuals with a variety of communication difficulties communicate. Proloquo4Text™ is designed for individuals who can read and spell without picture symbol support. It is used by people with a wide range of diagnoses, including developmental disabilities (like autism, apraxia, and cerebral palsy) and acquired disorders (like laryngectomy, ALS, stroke, or traumatic brain injury). Proloquo4Text™ can be used to produce speech by anyone who can type and spell.

If the Proloquo4Text™ app is requested through Oklahoma ABLE Tech’s Device Loan Program, it will be downloaded on one of OK ABLE Tech’s iPads to trial.

Note:
Proloquo4Text ™ is only available to trial on an iPad through Oklahoma ABLE Tech’s Device Loan Program; however, when acquired for long-term use Proloquo4Text ™ can be used on an iPhone, Apple watch, or iPad.

• Use of a single screen for easy access to words, phrases, and keyboard.
• Ability to switch between conversations, making it easy to answer a question in another conversation, without disrupting what was typed in the first conversation.
• Option to decide when messages are spoken with play, pause and speak-as-you-type.
• Ability to adjust appearance (font, color, text size) to preference and needs.
• Ability to send email, messages, and tweets from Proloquo4Text™.
• Ability to write in Proloquo4Text™ and copy text into another app.
• Ability to listen to text by pasting it into to Proloquo4Text™.
• When app is acquired for long-term use, there is the ability to make phone and FaceTime calls with Proloquo4Text™.

• Creating, saving, and organizing commonly used phrases.
• Using self-learning PolyPredix™ word prediction.
• Showing what is typed with the full screen view and flip text features.
• Typing once, then saying it again with history and sentence prediction.

Voice Options Include:

• Over 100 voices in 18 languages.
• Ability to easily switch between languages.
• When the app is acquired for long-term use, there is the ability for use my-own-voice, a voice-banking technology, to preserve and capture the essence of an individual’s own voice in synthetic speech.

Accessibility Features Include:

• Ability to follow words as they are spoken with optional sentence or word highlighting.
• Proloqu4Text™ is optimized for Switch Control and VoiceOver.
• Ability to use multitasking functionality to run another app side-by-side on supported devices.
• When acquired for long-term use, there is the ability to keep devices in sync by easily backing up and restoring your customizations and stored phrases.
