Device Description
The HeadMouse Nano replaces the standard computer mouse for individuals who cannot use or have limited use of their hands. The HeadMouse Nano translates natural movements of a user's head into directly proportional mouse pointer movement. Users move their head, and the mouse pointer follows along. The HeadMouse Nano has a wireless optical sensor which tracks a tiny disposable target worn by the user on their forehead, glasses, or even a hat. It works just like a computer mouse, with the mouse pointer being controlled by the head movement.
The HeadMouse Nano will track head movement with the user comfortably located anywhere in front of their computer display. Nano's high tracking resolution, pixel precise control is available to everyone. This precision allows a user to perform such tasks as drawing, photo editing, graphic illustration, and Computer Aided Design (CAD).
The HeadMouse Nano connects to the computer, tablet, smartphone or speech generating device through a USB port and operates using standard mouse drivers. Note: Requires version 13 or newer of iPad or iOS. No special software is required. The HeadMouse is powered by the host device, over the USB connection. Its integrated tilt sensory automatically adapts to any mounting orientation.
The HeadMouse Nano also works with the Beam device. Beam TM allows a HeadMouse Nano user to actuate the left, right, and middle mouse buttons using adapting switches without a direct connection to the HeadMouse.
Selections and mouse button operations can be performed using a variety of adaptive switches (switches available to trial in Oklahoma ABLE Tech's Short-Term Loan Library); enabling dwell settings on the device the HeadMouse is being used with; or mouse button software, such as Dragger.
