support development, the Explorer Mini is an ergonomic device with multiple weight-bearing surfaces to help promote safe, stable, upright postures while providing opportunities to improve strength, endurance, and postural control. The requirements for using the Explorer Mini are that the child be a maximum of 35 lbs., a maximum of 39 inches in height, can maintain an upright sitting position, and has good head control. To use the Explorer Mini, locate the ON/OFF Switch on the bottom right side of the device. Turn the switch to the on position, press the ON Button above the switch and press the Power Button on the Joystick. The Joystick is used to control the Explorer Mini. To temporarily turn off the Explorer Mini, press the Power Button on the Joystick. To permanently turn off the device, select off on the ON/OFF Switch. When charging, the device is automatically locked and cannot be driven. Permobil recommends charging the battery at least 1 time a month. The Explorer Mini is intended to be used indoors on dry, flat, firm, and clean surfaces. It can be used outdoors in dry weather, on flat dry pavement or surfaces. The Explorer Mini is not intended to be used as a seat in a motor vehicle. The Permobil Explorer Mini can be used by a child in a sitting or standing position. When in either position, the child’s feet should touch the friction surface of the Base Model and arms should be positioned on the Tray Top. This will ensure the child can reach the Joystick easily. If needed, the seat can be removed while in the standing position.
