Oklahoma ABLE Tech: Device Loan: Device Details for Everyday Access & Effort Reduction Kit

Everyday Access & Effort Reduction Kit

Device Description

This kit is for a short-term loan for individuals to borrow to trial for decision making and/or a short-term accommodation.
The kit includes push down bottle opener, power grip, doorknob grip, plastic bottle opner, jar opener, silicone jar opener, and multi functional bottle, jar, and can opener.
  • The Everyday Access & Effort Reduction Kit is designed to support individuals who experience difficulty with twisting, gripping, cutting, stabilizing, or applying force during common kitchen and household tasks.
  • The items in this kit are intended to reduce physical effort, joint strain, and fatigue while supporting safe and independent participation in daily activities.
  • This kit includes assistive technology tools that help with opening jars and bottles, cutting food or materials, stabilizing objects, turning doorknobs, and performing tasks that typically require grip strength or bilateral coordination.
  • Items may be used individually or in combination based on the task and the user’s needs.
  • The kit can be used in the home, workplace, or shared living environments to support activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living.
  • The handout included provides details for each item in the kit, including a description, key features, and information on where the item can be obtained.
  • This kit may benefit individuals:
  • with arthritis, joint pain, or reduced hand strength
  • with neurological conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, or tremors
  • experiencing age-related changes in strength, coordination, or endurance
with limited range of motion, reduced grip endurance, or hand fatigue
recovering from injury or surgery affecting hand or upper-extremity function
By reducing the force and coordination required to complete everyday tasks, the Everyday Access & Effort Reduction Kit may decrease the need for hands-on assistance from caregivers during meal preparation, food access, and household activities.
This increased independence can support brief periods of respite, allow caregivers to focus on other responsibilities, and promote more sustainable caregiving routines.
