Device Description
Carle the Smart Robot allows individuals who are non-speaking or unintelligible give voice commands using a speech-generating device or app and allows individuals who have fine motor limitations who are unable to activate small buttons on a remote-control device control Carle via voice commands or via the free companion app. Use Carle along with a speech-generating device or app to increase engagement and participation! Carle has 14 voice commands that he will respond to. Voice commands included “Hello”, “You are so cool”, “Where are you from?”, “I love you”, “Let’s do sports”, “Go forward”, “Go backward”, “Turn left”, “Turn right”, Twist your waist”, “Move your shoulders”, “Sing a song”, “Dance for me”, and “Goodbye”. Carle’s 14 voice commands can be used to support, teach, and practice pragmatic functions using the speech generating device: turn taking “my turn”; gaining attention “look”; commenting “you’re so cool”; giving directions “turn left”; and greetings “hello”. Carle can also connect with speech-generating devices and apps via Bluetooth allowing Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) users to use Carle as a speaker as they communicate. Carl the Smart Robot measures 11" length by 15.8" wide by 4.7" height.
